World War I: The Centenary

100 years ago today, millions of families were thrust into a battle to safe their lives, their homes and their countries. World War One was equal parts harrowing, heroic and horrendous.

Many of those families, gave up everything to ensure that their country was kept safe and so we can have the lives we lead today, free from what could have been. Heartrending stories are shared, tales of bravery, sacrifice and courage in the face of blind danger.

Tonight a lone candle will light our home between 10pm and 11pm in remembrance of the fallen, whilst memorial services will be held around the world.

Lest we forget.

  2. My great grandfather fought in the trenches and was gassed, luckily he came home but he never talked about the war. It's interesting because today also marks a battle in the war of 1812 of the British against the United States here in Michigan.
