As my black cab crossed Waterloo Bridge recently it struck my expat brain that on one side the modern ash-coloured City rises and the other the gothic magnificence of the Houses of Parliament seems to pierce the sunset. Timeless icons that never seem to fade.
It is a hard, fantastic, intriguing city and I wouldn't have it any other way. Couldn't have it any other way.
The people are amazing yet baffling.
The opportunities are endless and challenging.
The queues are orderly and passively rambunctious.
And did we mention the delicious fortuity to have easy access to bao/hirata buns?
