Friday figments and photos: Milestones and retrospect

As I have a milestone birthday approaching next year, I was asked the other day if I was beginning to stress about coming up to that milestone (and no, I’m not revealing which one). I thought about it for a second, and then replied ‘no, I think that life is to be treasured and lived to the full – we can either spend our lives enjoying every moment, or wishing that we were – and I never want to live with regrets’.

I know, I know, I sounded like those cheezball memes that
everyone loves to hate (and make into their own secret Pinterest boards
for rainy pick me ups) but I truly want to live life to the full. My
friends laugh at me for my shenanigans, and say they wish they had my
energy, whilst I admire their contentment (and ability to sit still for
more than 15 seconds).

There are things that I want to improve in my life – who doesn’t – but
at the same time it’s good to have a reminder to just stop for 10
minutes, watch the sunrise over a good coffee and just ‘be’. We are such
a lucky generation – we have the tools to create much the life that we
want to live with a little elbow grease, a little bit of luck and a heck
of lot of determination. Many of our parents didn’t have the same
ability to pick up a cheap flight and disappear over to the continent
for a long weekend. Our Grandparents weren’t able to move to the other
side of the world and be able to have video conversations over a cup of
tea and keep family relationships strong.

I don’t share many of my blue days here, because I want to have my own little nook to just celebrate and enthuse. I probably need to become more cynical, stop overthinking everything and wear a little more make up (to stop looking like such a hill billy.)

But d’you know what, I’m not going to. Life is for living, brunch is for enjoying and the world is truly our oyster. We are only restricted by the dreams that we can conjure and the karma that we garner.

There are many things I should have done today. Instead I pondered the implications of giant succulent parenthood… #nature #home #fromwhereistand
