Of late my eye keeps being drawn to travel and adventure quotes, so I thought I’d share a few of my favourites that have fired up my wanderlust.
“Why do you go away? So that you can come back. So that you can see the place you came from with new eyes and extra colours. And the people there see you differently, too. Coming back to where you started is not the same as never leaving.” ― Terry Pratchett
Doesn’t that just ignite your wanderlust? (It also makes me miss the sheer genius of reading Terry Pratchett’s Discworld, so if you need me, I’ll probably be found in a cosy nook reading.)
“Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things you didn’t do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbour. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.” – Mark Twain
“‘It’s a dangerous business, Frodo, going out your door. You step onto the road, and if you don’t keep your feet, there’s no knowing where you might be swept off to.” – J.R.R Tolkien
“Some people live more in twenty years than others do in forty. It’s not the time, it’s the person” – Doctor Who
“People don’t take trips, trips take people.” – John Steinbeck
All men dream, but not equally. Those who dream by night in the dusty recesses of their minds, wake in the day to find that it was vanity: but the dreamers of the day are dangerous men, for they may act on their dreams with open eyes, to make them possible. – T.E. Lawrence
Every man can transform the world from one of monotony and drabness to one of excitement and adventure.” – Irving Wallace
“I hope you see things that startle you. I hope you feel things you never felt before. I hope you meet people with a different point of view. I hope you live a life you’re proud of. If you find that you’re not, I hope you have the strength to start all over again.” – Eric Roth, The Curious Case of Benjamin Button
“Adventure is worthwhile in itself.” – Amelia Earhart
We live in a world that is full of beauty, charm and adventure. There is no end to the adventures we can have if only we seek them with our eyes open. – Jawaharial Nehru
Travel makes one modest, you see what a tiny place you occupy in the world. – Gustave Flaubert
