Gift Guide: Small businesses that create amazing things (Travel Linkup)

If a tree falls in the forest and there is no one around to hear it, does it make a sound? If you are a blogger who doesn’t write a Christmas gift guide, are you even entitled to buy rose gold accessories?

Obviously, I’m joking, but for a second year running I felt that an essential tool in my blogging arsenal was lacking deployment (as well as my annual charity gift guide which I’ll pop up shortly.)

Much of my freelance/day job has been intentionally focussed on working with small businesses that a full of passion, so hoping that Santa has blog reading on his agenda in the run up to his busiest day of the year, I thought I would share some of my favourite small businesses that do some amazing stuff in the world.

As a disclaimer, some of these businesses are founded and run by people that I know, but I can honestly say that I’ve personally purchased their unique products and have witnessed first hand the passion that they have for doing some good in the world – not to mention their talent.

There are no affiliate links, no commissions, no old-fashioned bribery – in fact, they don’t know I was writing this.

Zeal & Heart – Limited edition, hand engraved sterling silver jewellery.

Thoughts can be dangerous, they can warp your thinking and turn light into dark. If you need a little reminder that sometimes thoughts lie, then this or one of the limited edition pendants (including customizable ones) is for you or your loved ones. They can be a daily reminder that what is inside your head isn’t always reality. And being the size of a fingernail, they ooze subtle sass – the very best kind.

Bookwagon – Online Children’s Bookstore.

They select every book featured on their site; they read every book they sell, unlike multi-nationals that just put out any old title. Their promise is to leave no stone unturned to offer unique, new, challenging, spine-tingling, classic, exciting books for every age and interest, from every genre, from around the world, to readers, turning them into life-long book addicts. They also offer a personal shopper service for the hard to buy for.

Toothbrush Travels – An exclusive range of beautiful prints, cards and jumpers.

Taking pride of place in my office is one of Amy’s prints (pictured below) which I ordered whilst in New Zealand to wait for me when I set up my new desk and career chapter. Every day I look up to remind myself that the world is my oyster (and to be honest, it’s usually that point that I need to top up my bloodstream with caffeine too.)

Silver and Stone – Handmade Silver Jewellery

Tammy owns a shop in a corner of Esty called SilverandStone_TX. She is a recycle/reuse queen, and creates the most beautiful, quirky jewellery, including some really cute coffee bean earrings that I adore.

Biscuiteers – Iced biscuit gifts.

Having received few of these packages I can vouch for how much pleasure these confections bring. They are such a sweet (excuse the pun) gift, especially when the recipient is hard to buy for.
